We are a New Zealand-based non-profit team working to make civic and political information easier to find, understand and participate in.

The idea started with a simple frustration. What if you want to know:

• Is my local MP holding a public meeting?
• Is there a political debate happening near me?
• Is my Local Board discussing something that affects my neighbourhood?
• Is there a public consultation I can take part in?
• What is Parliament debating this week?

There isn’t one obvious place to look.

The information exists, but it is scattered across Parliament and council websites, political party pages, newsletters, social media, community groups and individual event pages. Unless you already know where to look, it is very easy to miss.

We think civic participation should be easier than that.

Our team brings experience across technology, education, community engagement and digital solutions. We are using that experience to organise information that is already public and make it more useful and accessible.

We are starting with two simple areas.

• Political Briefs — clear summaries of what is happening in Parliament, government and local politics, with links back to the original sources.
• Political & Civic Events — one place to discover public meetings, candidate debates, Local Board meetings, consultations, political discussions, protests and other opportunities to participate.

We are independent and non-partisan. We don’t support political parties or candidates, and we don’t want to tell people what to think or how to vote.

We want to make it easier for people to answer three simple questions:

• What is happening?
• Who is making the decision?
• How can I take part?

You shouldn’t need to be a political insider to participate in democracy. Sometimes you just need to know where to look.
